Traffic Operations Manager

Job Description

Traffic Operations Managers plan, organize, oversee, coordinate, and review the work of staff performing difficult and complex professional, technical, and administrative support related to all programs and activities of traffic systems and infrastructures, including long- and short-term project planning, design, construction, maintenance, operations, and other programs. Traffic Operations Managers also engage in project planning, installation, construction, maintenance, and repair of traffic and transportation systems, infrastructure, budget, and equipment. The position further entails developing and standardizing procedures and methods to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of services, projects, and activities, assessing and monitoring workload, administrative and support systems, and internal reporting relationships, identifying opportunities for improvement and recommends to directors. Finally, Traffic Operations Managers supervise program and project development for all traffic modes, neighborhood and arterial traffic operations, high collision analysis, traffic operations, investigation and implementation activities, and traffic project design delivery and perform forensic traffic engineering including standards compliance, traffic accident investigations and providing expert testimonials.

Education Required

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Master's degree sometimes preferred
  • Major coursework in Civil Engineering or related field
