“Innovative Practices in Transit Workforce Development”

The article is a digest of recent studies conducted by Transit Cooperative Research Program from a research mission conducted on transportation workforce development challenges in various international cities and attempts to overcome those challenges. For example, the head of human resources for Brussels' transportation society is trying to develop a framework for passing institutional knowledge between generations of executive managers to ensure that the organization does not lose that knowledge after the current managers retire. Brussels' transportation society expects at least 300 senior managers and executives will retire between 2010 and 2011.
